Imphal, October 13:
Following directives issued by Chief Secretary Jarnal Singh to the heads of all Govt Departments, eleven departments have submitted their inspection reports carried out on various schemes and projects undertaken by their respective depts to the Chief Secretary, disclosed a highly placed source.
Without divulging any details about the eleven departments which have submitted their inspection report to the Chief Secretary, sources said that some reports revealed that some of the schemes and projects are in their initial stages while some are yet to be executed.
Even though the check posts of the State Taxation Department have greatly improved, the Dept still does not have its own office building, said the source adding that the State Govt is also reluctant to provide man power to the Dept in collecting taxes and further added that frequent shifting of check posts will increase the problems in collecting taxes from the public.
Stating that suggestions for computerisation of the Dept's head office located at Imphal and various check posts located all over the State have also been made to the authorities concerned, source said that the State Excise Dept is also not doing any of its duties other than checking the smuggling of foreign liquor from outside the State.
