Imphal, October 13:
The State Govt has given one more month to the Thang-jam Manorama Death Inquiry Commission to finalise their inquiry.
The probe is underway at the premises of Imphal Central jail.
An order to this effect has been issued by the State Home Department extending the time upto Nov 12, sources told The Sangai Express.
The ongoing State sponsored panel is examining Assam Rifles witnesses in camera at the premises of Imphal Central Jail and the proceedings may be completed within the current month.
Once the examination of the AR witnesses is completed by the panel headed by retired Judge C Upendra Singh, report of the same would be prepared, the sources added.
When such examination is over at the jail premises the Commission will shift to its earlier temporary office at the State Guest House Sanjenthong.
Following a verdict of the Guwahati High Court, Principal Seat, the panel's proceedings had been shifted to the jail premises to ensure safety and security of the AR witnesses.
The bullet riddled body of 32 year old Manorama was found near Laipharok Maring Village on July 11 after she was picked up by 17 AR personnel from her Bamon Kampu residence the previous night.
