Thabaton shines in California at World Police and Fire Games

Imphal, August 17 2017:
It was raining medals for track and field star Soraisham Thabaton Chanu at the recently concluded World Police and Fire Games in California, US .
In the championship that was held from August 7 to 16, Thabaton, representing India, bagged three gold, two silver and one bronze medals .
She had won the gold medals in individual races of 800m, 1500m and 5000m clocking them at 2:20.636, 4:47.800 and 18:50.998 respectively .
In the 400m and 1600 metre relay race, she grabbed the two silver medals.
Thabaton had won the lone bronze medal in the 3000m individual race .
The World Police and Fire Games is a biennial athletic championship.
Both active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel are eligible to take part in it.
The next 2019 edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place in the city of Chengdu in China .
Thabaton is currently posted as a CRPF constable in New Delhi.
She hails from Taothong Khunou in Imphal West.
Thabaton is the daughter of Soraisham Manglem and Sarojini.
