NCPCR to survey school children's safety

With the aim to address critical gaps in extending a safe learning environment for children in schools, the State Project Office, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), SMA Manipur today organised an orientation meeting at SSA office located at Babupara .
The event was attended by Member of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Priyank Kanoongo; State Project Director of SSA/SMA Manipur, Thokchom Kirankumar; Additional State Project Director of SSA, T Phulen; Chairperson of the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Th Sharatkumar; Member of the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Montu Anthem and Member of the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Pradip Keisham, ZEOs from different districts and headmasters of various schools .
In the meeting, Priyank Kanoongo said that the NCPCR has planned to bring out a study on National annual report on safe and secure school environment in India for the first time .
Since 2016, a survey is conducted to assess if school children are safe and secure or not.
Whether the schools lack any basic amenities and whether the records of the students are properly maintained by the teachers are also included in the survey.
The report is almost complete for most of the States.
The survey is yet to be done in only two States�Manipur and Nagaland, Kanoongo said .
The meeting focused on the methodology of conducting the study.
