8th Bpr District Level Badminton Championship begins, Kh Roshni to meet Angelina in women's singles final

Bishnupur, August 05 2018:
The District level Badminton Championship 2018 being organised under the aegis of Bishnupur District Badminton Association kick-started today at Indoor Stadium of Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong.
A total of 82 players of 10 categories will be taking part in this 8th edition of the championship which will run for 3 days.
The inaugural function of the championship was graced by Kangabam Mani Singh, Chairperson, Ningthoukhong Municipal Council; M Rajen, president Bishnupur District Badminton Association; Lanmio Luikham, Addl SP (LO) Bishnupur; International referee, H Gyaneshor and L Gunababu Singh, former president Bishnupur District Badminton Association as distinguished guests.
Day 1 Events
U-13 Boys Singles
K Jim Singh sealed a 21-12, 20-22, 21-15 in the first pre-quarter final match of the U-13 boys' singles competition to cruise into the quarter final round while Alex Ngangom prevailed in the second pre-quarter final match to notch up a 21-10, 21-13 win against RK Dayananda Singh.
In other pre-quarter final matches, M Agalin Singh beat M Brajamani Singh 21 -17, 21-17; Kh Davidson Singh outlasted K Marjing 21-18, 21-16; H Malemnganba Singh saw off L Brickson Singh, 21-18, 22-20; and O Dipak Singh thrashed NVipul 21-4, 21-9 to move into next round.
Men's Singles
In the first match of the men's singles competition, RK Henry Singh got better of H Yugander by 21-16, 21-9 points and moved into the last 8 round while Kh Lakpati Singh overwhelmed Roshan Oinam 21-6, 21-14 to move into last 8 round of the U-17 Boys's singles competition.
O Suresh Singh got better of N Robin Singh by 21-10, 21-7 in the first quarter final match of the men's singles competition while K Dayananda Sharma sealed a 21-18, 21-17 win over Kh Kalenyai Singh to cruise into the semi-final.
RK Henry also moved into the semi-final enjoying a walk-over as Sidhu Busan did not turn up for the match.
U-15 Boys' Singles
First match of the boys' U-15 singles competition saw, Ph Arju had an easy 21-10, 21-8 win against K Jim Singh to move into quarter final while M Agalin singh was quick to beat S Bishal 21-14, 22-20 in the next match of the same competition.
H Malemnganba secured a 23-21, 21-11 win in the third match of the same competition to seal the last 8 round berth while M Brajamani Singh edged out Kh Davidson 21-18, 21-15 to advance into the quarter final.
U-15 Boys' Doubles
In the first match of the U-15 boys' doubles competition, L Bricson and O Leishamba combined well to see off Kh Amarjit Singh and RK Alen 18-21, 21-13, 21-17 and sealed the semifinal berth .
Women's Singles
Kh Roshni Devi booked a place in the women's singles final with an easy 21-5, 21-4 win over Bidyaluxmi in the first semi-final while Angelina overcame Jibanlata 21-15, 21-18 to set up final clash with Kh Roshni.
U-13 Boys' Doubles
RK Alen Singh and RK Dayananda sealed a 21-11, 21 -9 win over the pair of K Jim and Kh Davidson to seal the final berth of the U-13 boys doubles competition.
U-17 Boys' Singles
Th Rikarson Singh who conceded the first set by 19-21 points to Ch Churchil in a quarter final clash of the U-17 boys' singles competition made his way through to the semis as the latter retired at 5-4 during the second set.
Ph Arju Singh got a walkover as his opponent Sidhu Busan did not turn up.
In the other quarter final matches, S Bishal beat Kh Lakhpati Singh 21-8, 21-7 and T Bonson Singh punished O Bendal Singh 21-6, 21-9 to secure their place in the semi-finals.
