Imphal, August 05 2018:
Reiterating the demand that Professor AP Pandey must be removed as the VC of Manipur University, MUSU, MUTA and MUSA have resolved to appeal to Professor W Vishwanath Singh to fulfill the pre-conditions placed before him by the Constituent Units of MU and only after the institution of an inquiry under the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952 before assuming the charge of VC.
Professor W Vishwanath was named as the VC in charge after AP Pandey was given leave for 30 days on August 2 .
These resolutions were taken during a joint meeting of MUSU, MUTA and MUS A today after a team of MUSU met Chief Minister N Biren.
After MUSU apprised the meeting with the Chief Minister during the joint meeting, a 6 point resolution was adopted.
Among others it was resolved to request the Chief Minister to invite all the constituent units; that is MUSU, MUTA and MUSA simultaneously for any meeting in future to discuss the present crisis in Manipur University.
It was also resolved to request the Chief Minister to clarify a priori in every invitation to any meeting as to the persons who would be attending the said meeting.
Significantly this resolution was taken in view of the fact that 'MUSU members were unpleasantly surprised by the presence of some other Members in the interaction with the Chief Minister and their presence was not informed a priori by office of the Chief Minister.' The meeting also resolved to launch an indefinite hunger strike from August 10 .
