Fruitful partnership of 90 runs between openers Suresh and Robinson of Champ, Khagempalli snatch the final match from Cyclone, Thangmeiband with one run gap in the final of IDCA 1st Division league cum Knockout Tournament to lift the trophy.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss Champ compiled a competitive total of 158 runs in the allotted 35 overs losing nine wickets.
The opening partnership between Suresh and Robinson proved too costly for Cyclone in the long run with Suresh adding 48 runs followed by 31 runs of Robinson.
The middle order batsmen collapsed with three players out on duck.
In reply the Thangmeiband team ran out of steam with only two batsmen - Roshan and Akshay exhibiting fine knock of 27 runs and 42 runs respectively and were stuck at 157 runs one run short of the target after the allotted overs ran out with three wickets in hand.
The 70 runs partnership between Akshay and Roshan could not save the match from slipping away as Champ bowlers tighten their grip with some superb bowling.
The other batsmen failed to perform upto their mark with five batsmen scoring only one digit.
Suresh of Champ was adjudged man of the match.
Winner Champ got richer by Rs 2500 with trophy while the best loser Cyclone received Rs 2000 and trophy.
The award for the man of the series went to Amitra of TRAU for 11 wickets and 190 runs while Aboi of Blue Hawk was declared the highest wicket taker with 15 wickets.
Best catcher award went to Y Sunder of Champ.
