Manipur Police Sports Club clinched its maiden title in the N Hazari State polo Tournaments with a 7-4 victory over Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club in the final of the competition's 23rd edition at Imphal Pologround today.
While the final chukker remained barren for the eventual champions, MPSC scored in all the three earlier sessions to stamp its superiority and announce its arrival in polo competition in the birthplace of the game's.The police side's prolific scorer S Bimol, yet again emerged as the highest scorer with four goals as S Somarjit contributed two and S Girimohan knocked in one.
For Lamyanba PPC P Ojit struck on three occasions and M Jawan once.
The champions were rewarded Rs 2000 and trophy for their effort as Lamyanba had to be content with the Rs 1500 booty.
Moreover, an additional amount of Rs 2000 each was presented by the chief guest of the closing ceremony N Biren Singh, who is also the State's Sports Minister.
