Title favourites Manipur began its quarter final campaign of the 18th Senior National Women's Football Championship on a strong note with a 9-0 debacle of Kerala while Tamil nadu pipped Tripura by a solitary goal at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today.
The group A quarter final league round began with Manipur dominating their rivals and opened the score only three minutes into the match through M Mandakini.
Th Tababi, added four goals to the State tally, doubled the lead in the 29th minute.
Ng Bala (3) and Sh Rani chanu were the other scorers for Manipur, who will also face Tripura and Tamil Nadu later in the competition.
Manipur's next tie will be on March 16 against Tripura while on March 18 it will face Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu's all important goal against Tripura was scored by R Kalpana in the 50th.The match saw Tripura's Shyamali Deb Barman being evicted in the 77th minute as she retaliated when a brawl between rival players broke out.
