Self-styled commander-in-chief of the proscribed KYKL namely Tomba has been reportedly apprehended by a commando team of Imphal East district from a Siliguri market place, this evening.
According to a police source, SP (IE) Th Radheshyam based on specific information despatched a district commando team comprising of two Inspectors and a Sub Inspector to Siliguri, whose raid at Khaprail Bazar house led to Tomba's arrest.
Khaprail Bazar falls under Mati Garh police station of Siliguri sub-division.
Tomba alias Koireng alias Rajen (57) is the son of Ningthoujam Bira of Nambol Kongkham.
A satellite phone and some incriminating documents have been recovered from the possession of Tomba, who will be brought here soon, confided the source.
Meanwhile, police commandos have netted four underground cadres from different locations in the last three days.
In the first incident, police commandos of Imphal West district nabbed one PLA cadre from Nagamapal, near Tasty Taste Fast Food restaurant at around 5:30 pm.
He has been identified as Saikhom Khogen alias Ngouthoi alias Kiyamba Meitei (22) s/o Kerani of Takyel Mahadeva Kon.
A press release issued by Imphal West Senior SP L Kailun said that two non-resident stay permits of RPF and one Nokia mobile handset were seized from his possession.
The press release added, further on the day at around 5:40 pm, the district police commandos arrested another PLA/RPF cadre from Thangal Bazar, near Sani Mandir.
The cadre has been identified as Khuraijam Vaskar Meitei (30) s/o Kulladhaja of Sagolband Tera Yangbem Leirak.
Based on his disclosure, at around 6:30 pm, police commandos nabbed another activist of the outfit from his locality.
He has been identified as Haorungbam Basant alias Bheigo (41) s/o late Nabakumar of Lalambung Makhong Haorungbam Leikai.
In yet another incident, Thoubal district police commandos arrested a PREPAK cadre from Wabagai area on March 12. He has been identified as Mayengbam Sobha Singh (42) s/o Ibopishak.
On questioning, he disclosed the place where one American carbine with one magazine, one .36 HE grenade and 10 live rounds of AK ammunition were kept hidden, said a press release.
