Former champ beats defending champion

Defending champion Sanjoy today sufered a defeat in the fifth round match to former champion S Premjit in the 22nd Kh Anou Singh Memorial State Level Open Chess Tournament 2012 organised by the Kwakeithel Chess Club.
Playing the Sicilian Defence Sanjoy put his best efforts to gain full point from the former champion Premjit.
But time pressure and countering of pieces made him to resign in the 41st move.
Right from the beginning of the match, Premjit had positional advantage and now has a better chance of regaining the title which he won in 2004 .
At another table, Bhogen and Jacky settled for a draw after 56 moves.
Young player Herojit tried his best to save half point sat another table, but his more experienced opponent Dhanabir forced him to resign in the 40th moves.
In another game, international player Gobin Luwang earned full points by defeating his well experienced rival Bit Irom.
By the end of the fifth round, Premjit was the lone lead with 5 points.
Behind him is Jacky with 4.5 points.
