Imphal, June 07 2012:
The All Manipur Muslim Girl Students' Union has alleged that a few people have been violating all standard rules and norms and running the Muslim Girls Hostel in accordance to their own whim.
Speaking to media persons today, president of the student union Rukshar Choudhury said that the hostel which should be run by Wakf Board has not been handed over to MOBC by PWD.
Even though it is clearly laid down that the Chairman of Wakf Board should be an elected MLA, Md Allaudin Khan despite losing the election inaugurated the hostel in the capacity of the board's chairman.
All the seven/eight staff selected for the hostel are relatives of Md Allaudin Khan.
The warden is daughter of Allaudin Khan's younger brother Md Leihaluddin.
Whereas the warden is staying at her Kyamgei residence, some four/five students have been already accommodated in the hostel.
It has also been learnt that all the existing staff of Wakf Board were appointed after violating all the relevant Acts and rules.
Even though the rules say that "the appointment of Wakf Board staff shall be made by the Wakf Board only with the prior approval of the State Government and their services shall be governed by regulation of the board", all the staff were appointed by the ex-Minister in accordance to his personal fancy.
Project officer of the board, Md Tajuddin Khan instead of seeking advice and approval from the board which should be the case according to rules, has been advising the board members and is doing whatever he fancies.
It is said that Md Tajuddin is a cousin of ex-Minister Md Allaudin.
Except for three or four staff, all other staffs were appointed by Md Allaudin without approval of the State Government.
Drawing attention of the Chief Minister towards all these irregularities and discrepancies, Rukshar Choudhury appealed to the Chief Minister to ensure that all the benefits which must be entitled to more than two lakh people are not monopolised or usurped by a single family.
She also appealed to the three Muslim MLAs to prevent the ex-Minister from further denial of rights to the Muslims population.
She further appealed to all concerned to sanitise and streamline the functioning of Wakf Board and all other offices under Department of Minorities and Other Backward Classes.
