5th MNCA Elite Tournament : Nitesh guides CHAMP to 9-wicket win

CHAMP Cricket Club, Khagempalli who downed THAU, Thangmeiband in the opening match of the 5thn MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament sealed yet another 9 wicket win, this time against Blue Hawk, Khurai Lamlong today.
Blue Hawk which won the toss and opted to bat first, did not fare well and were forced to bundle out for 90 in 29 overs as Moirangthem Thomas of CHAMP and Keisham Ravishankar rattled across the batting line up.
Sanatomba 25 emerged the leading run getter for the Lamlong side today and Gautam Soubam followed suit with 21 runs in his name.
Moirangthem Thomas was the pick of CHAMP bowlers as he removed 5 wickets for 12 runs in his spell of 8 overs which include a maiden and K Ravishankar added much teeth to the attack by scalping 3 wickets offering 13 runs in his spell of 8 overs studded with 3 maidens.
Though Chingangbam Bonny went out on 4 to Wakambam Samsom Singh, CHAMP cruised to the target in just 13.3 overs riding on Nitesh Sedai's unbeaten 60 (off 44 balls) and Leikham Johny's 25 runs off 31 balls.
Nitesh Sedai smashed 4 fours and 4 sixes en route to his 60 run feat.
With the win CHAMP are in pole position of Group A with 4 points from two matches and Net Run Rate of 4.721.M Thomas of CHAMP who shone with 5 wickets to lead the Blue Hawk breakdown was adjudged man of the match.
TRAU, Kwakeithel will play Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha tomorrow in a Group B encounter of the 12 team top tier Cricket competition of the State being underway at Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground, Luwangsangbam.
