Imphal, August 06:
While regretting postponement of its federal assembly to August 6 instead of previously scheduled August 4 at Majorkhul Community hall, the United Naga Council (UNC) has clarified that it participated at the August 4 programme held at MDU Hall on the theme 'Removal of AFSPA, 1958' and not to observe 'Manipur Integrity Day'.
The purpose and motive of UNC members' participation at the MDU programme should not be interpreted other than endorsing the ongoing movement for withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 from Manipur, it said in a press release issued by media cell of the Council.
Asserting that UNC stands for removal of the draconian Act, the Naga body also pledged to participate in endeavour for any movement that reflects and advocates common interest initiated by any other organisation or the UNC itself.
