Four candidates who had earlier failed to clear the entrance test of Manipur MBBS/BDS exams 2004 have been selected in the State's MBBS/BDS quota following the detection of some mistakes in the "correction keys" of Chemistry and Zoology papers of the 2004 MBBS/BDS exams.
According to a reliable source, the four candidates were included in the selection list after a re-evaluation of the papers concerned were conducted by the question setters following an application submitted to the Health Commissioner by the four candidates who stated that four keys in Chemistry and Zoology papers were found incorrect.
The names of the four candidates were included in the selection list on the basis of the mark submitted by the selection committee after the errors were corrected.
Meanwhile, authorities of Cotton College Guwahati who were responsible for setting the Chemistry papers have admitted their mistakes.
However Biju Patnaik University of Technology authorities who were responsible for setting the Zoology papers have refused to admit their mistakes maintaining that the question set by them were very much correct.
The newly selected candidates included one general candidate, two scheduled tribe and one scheduled caste.
The four candidates who have been recommended by the State Health Department to be included in the State's list for undergoing Medical studies through an order issued yesterday have been identified as Bikash ArambamrollNo 1321 (mark 332 gen category), Nelson Mangte Roll No 2775 (Mark 272 ST), Mekhulsim Keisang Roll no 2620 (mark 268 ST) and Kennedy Heikham Roll No 2221 (Marks 296 SC).
Following the announcement of the recommended list of the selected candidates by the Department, nomination letters have also been given for the 34 MBBS seat of RIMS', 22 MBBS seats of Central Pool, 1 BDS seat and 3 BDS seat of Regional Central College Guwahati.
Meanwhile, Medical Council of India have also enquired the State about the delay in admission of MBBS/ BDS students.
MCI had issued instructions to all the State Health Department to complete MBBS/BDS admission by Juty 31.
