Imphal, August 06:
A worried looking Chief Minister O Ibobi, who is yet to explicitly state the position of his Government after the series of meetings with Central leaders at New Delhi recently, today told a group pf media persons that his Government is willing to invite the 32 organizations, spearheading the current agitation, and talk things over.
The 32 organizations have been on the war path demanding the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the State, ever since Th Manorama was killed in custody by Assam Rifles personnel.
Informally chatting with media persons after the swearing in ceremony of Governor Shivinder Singh Sidhu at Raj Bhawan today, the Chief Minister said that his Government is mulling over the possibility of sending feelers to the 32 organizations to talk things over.
The Chief Minister who was bombarded by queries from the newsmen, evaded any direct answer but nevertheless said that if the organizations agree, the talk would be held at the earliest possible.
He also said that his Government emphatises with the sentiments of the public.
On how he plans to lift the Act, the CM replied with a cryptic "wait and see".
Newly sworn in Governor, Dr Shivinder Singh Sidhu said that he is yet to fully study the situation in the State.
"I have just arrived today and the first thing I will do is talk things over with the Chief Minister," he said minutes after he was sworn in as the 18th Governor of the State by the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court PP Naolekar.
Sidhu assured that he would be accessible to the public.
