Tobacco items seized

Based on a specific intelligence input regarding ferrying of tobacco items on NH-102, troops of 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) established a vehicle check post at Bongyang road and apprehended an individual along with tobacco items worth Rs 63,31,920 on October 21.The apprehendee has been identified as Sanjay Kumar (30) s/o Suresh Kumar of Minuthong Hatta Telipati.
He was travelling in a Mahindra DI (MN-01- 6792) and heading towards Moreh, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
During the checking, 9300 tins of 350-Zarda worth Rs 28,83,000, 4800 tins of Baba Black (50 gm) worth Rs 3,69,600, 43200 tins of Golden Khaini worth Rs 2,80,800, 39600 tins of Baba Black (10) gm worth Rs 27,72,000, four pouches of Talab pan masala worth Rs 24,960 and one pouch of Royal Chewing tobacco worth Rs 1560 were recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee along with the recovered items have been handed over to Food Safety Officer, Chandel, added the press release.
