Imphal, August 11:
Expressing deep concern over the delay in the trial of the Lungnila Elizabeth murder case, Maram Students' Union has appealed to the public to extend their cooperation and moral support to the authorities concerned so that the killers are punished.
In a statement, H Peter Maram lamented that some group/communities are trying to prevent a free and fair investigation and have even threatened with boycott calls in order to protect so-me leaders.
Stating that the Union has nothing against TN Haokip in particular or other leaders in general, Peter said any suspect or anyone having links with the accused James Kuki should prove his innocence before the court of law.
The boycott of the State Assembly Session by the Opposition may have certain justification viewing from the nature of the crime and its inapt handling by the ruling parties, asserted Peter.
