Following the detection of cracks on the side of a hill near Pikhomei village along National highway 39, villagers of the particular area have been forced to vacate their respective residential houses to avoid any unwanted accidents.
Talking to this reporter, Mao Landslide Committee chairman B Neli informed that the affected area is about 500 mts from Pikhomei village which was recently hit by a major landslide destroying many houses and agricultural land in the process.
He also said that the particular area which has about eight/nine houses have been completely vacated and all the displaced villagers are presently being put up at nearby camps and relatives in the surrounding areas.
Mention may be made here that Pikhomei village was hit by a massive landslide on July 10 rendering hundreds of villagers homeless.
Meanwhile North Imphal United Clubs and Meira Paibi today donated 39 bags of rice (50 Kgs each), two bags of salt and other essential commodities to the landslide affected villagers of Pikhomei Village.
The items were handed over to Relief Committee chairman B Neli.
