Media and accessibility training

The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped (AYJNIHH), in collaboration with the Department of Mass Communication, MU, will organise a two-day orientation cum training programme on Media and Accessibility at the Dept of Mass Communication, MU on March 14-15 .
According to a statement issued by Natasha Elangbam, Head, Dept of Mass Com, MU, the country-wide training programme has been specifically designed for communication professionals and students of MC/PR/Journalism/Electronic Media in order to facilitate implementation of Articles 8, 9 and 21 of the UN Convention of Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the guidelines dealing with awareness, accessibility and access to information with reference to the mass media.
Some of the key resource persons included K Kannan, Dr Sanjay Ranade, Sharad Sharma, Joy Rani Brahmacharimayum, Prof Rangasayee, and Dr Mathew Martin.
The focus is on practical skills, information on media tools and techniques to improve media and website accessibility, the communication delivery in media houses and organisations, it added.
