Imphal, March 06 2013:
Reports that "PLA attack on Saibol Post" and " RPF claims killing two AR personnel" published in newspapers on 22 Feb 2013 and 06 Mar 2013 were false and fabricated.
There have been no such incidents of firing on AR troops or any other post in Chandel district, according to a statement issued by PRO (IGAR) South.
Reacting to the report published on 22 Feb 2013, the PRO informed that a series of visits had been conducted by Senior Officers in the area to corroborate the inputs given in reports.
The officers interacted with villagers in the nearby villages who completely denied any such incidents of firing or killing of AR personnel.
Locals also praised the role of Assam Rifles in developing the remote border area and assistance provided by Assam Rifles post at Saibol.
PRO, HQ IGAR(S) further emphasised Assam Rifles's motto of "Friends of people of North East" and reiterated that no restrictions are placed on the locals and all acts of Human Rights violations are viewed very seriously by the force.
Assam Rifles has very comprehensive procedures for taking care of its martyrs and their dead bodies.
Any AR personal casualty cannot be hidden or concealed from vigilant media or locals in the area.
A detailed post mortem is conducted at RIMS and documentation involves multiple agencies including police.
No such actions have taken nor have any other independent agencies reported such incidents.
It clearly implies that all claims made by RPF are false and nothing but blatant lies.
Post expulsion of UPPK and fracture of CORCOM there is a tremendous pressure on CORCOM to report such false incidents with an aim to motivate its cadres and garner media attention.
PRO HQ IGAR(S) strongly condemns such reports as totally false, baseless and assures the people for continued efforts of Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and tranquility in the region, the statement added.
