'Capacity and necessity' assessments for the construction of a 97.875 km road with financial assistance from Asian Development Bank (ADB) have been completed.
Stretches from Tupul to Bishnupur (50.75 km) and Thoubal to Kasom Khullen (47.125 km) are to be constructed under the project, said a source.
Assessments of both the stretches were conducted by a team of four officials led by ADB Mission Transport Specialist T Sakai on February 27 and 28 last, the source added.
It further said that bid for the engagement of a Consultant for the said work has also already been invited.
The roads are to be constructed in intermediate double lane (5.5 metre in breadth) .
Saying that a suitable Consultant would be engaged by May this year, the source said that technical formalities would be completed after the engagement of the Consultant, so that construction works can be started from the beginning of the the next working season.
