A six member team of RITES today left for Moreh border town as part of an inspection for the railway line construction from Jiribam to Mandalay via Toupul.
The railway survey team led by HL Choudhury and Tarun Gupta left Imphal for Moreh at around 9 am today to study the feasibility of the Central Govt aided railway line construction that would connect Manipur with Myanmar's Mandalay.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had laid the foundation stone for the ambitious railway line project on November 20 at Jiribam.
The State Government had urged the Prime Minister during his recent State visit to extend the same railway line till Moreh and based on the intimation the survey team is reported to have arrived for the inspection four days back.
