Reviewing the prevailing law and order situation, the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) Legislature members during a meeting today discussed measures to be taken up to foil the students' agitation of surrendering their books tomorrow.
The meeting presided over by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh decided to declare a holiday for all the educational institutions in the four valley districts tomorrow with a view to foil the students' agitation, disclosed a reliable source from the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Accordingly Commissioner (Edn) P Bharat has issued an order declaring holiday for all the educational institutions in the valley districts tomorrow, the source said.
The meeting also resolved to give strict instruction to the police officials concerned for taking up stringent security arrangement to avoid occurrence of any untoward violent incident during the shradh ceremony of Konjengbam Memita Devi and Mangani Leihun Lamba ceremony which also fall tomorrow, the source informed.
Although, the demand of the 32 organisations spearheading the ongoing movement for resignation of all the 59 MLAs and 3 MPs, the deadline for which end tomorrow came up for discussion during the meeting, none of the SPF members have shown willingness to relinquish their posts, the source said.
