State ready for R-Day celebration

Imphal, January 21, 2012:
As in other parts of the country, the government of Manipur would be celebrating the 63rd Republic Day of India in a grant manner at Kangla with Governor as Chief Guest on January 26 and necessary preparations have been put in place, according to a DIPR statement.
The Chief Guest would arrive at the saluting base at 8 am and inspect the guard of honour.
This would be followed by playing of the National Anthem by a band party of Manipur Rifles, unfurling of the tri-colour flag and presentation of police medals to police personnel who have been selected for meritorious services and taking the salute of the march past contingents by the Chief Guest.
In continuation of the celebration, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would address the people at the parade ground of Ist Manipur Rifles, Imphal at 11 am.
He would also give away prizes to the winners of the march past competitions.
To wind up the celebration, folk dance competition and beating retreat would be witnessed at the same parade ground on January 27.
