SFs strike it rich with arrest of 7 UGs

Imphal, January 22, 2012:
At least seven cadres of different underground groups have been arrested by security forces yesterday from different locations.
A combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and 23 AR troops arrested one PREPAK cadre yesterday around 6.30pm from Uyumpok Lokchao, a statement issued by the SP of Imphal East district claimed.
The arrested cadre has been identified as Nongthombam Bomcha alias Dijen alias Maipak Singh (25) son of N Sobhachandra of Pukhao Laipham Maning Leikai.
One .32 pistol loaded with three live rounds and two Chinese hand grenades were recovered from his possession, it stated.
He is said to be working under the command of one Lanngamba alias Bohen alias Chaoba, a self-styled finance secretary of the outfit in Imphal East.
The arrested cadre was also said to be involved in extortion of money from the magic vehicle association of Uyumpok.
Earlier in the day around 10am, a combined team of Imphal East commandos and 30 AR troops arrested one UPPK cadre from Sawombung Khunjao.
The arrested man has been identified as Oinam Mangoljao Meitei alias Prem (25) son of O Birachand of Khurai Thoudam Leikai and now staying at Sawombung Thongkhong.
He was said to be involved in hurling of hand-grenade in the house of an active Congress worker, Thokchom Kala of Sawombung Thongkhong Awang Leikai, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, five PLA cadres including one woman have been arrested by a combined team of Imphal East district commandos and 28 AR troops yesterday from different places.
A statement issued by the SP of Imphal East claimed that a PLA woman cadre identified as Khunumayum Gambini alias Tombi (46) d/o (L) Kh Chute of Andro Pungdong Leikai, was arrested from Keirao Bitra.
In another incident, four cadres of PLA were arrested from Keirao Lamkhai while they were driving in an i-10 car.
The arrested men have been identified as Soraisam Ibohanbi alias Tachou (54) s/o late Ningthemjao, Chingakham Pramanda alias Amuba (34), s/o Kirankumar, Laishram Mantosh (34) s/o late Chaobi, and Loushangbam Ojitkumar Meitei (34) s/o Chandra, all from Khurai Thangjam.
One wallet, five live rounds of M-16 rifle, two AK rifle ammunitions, and four mobile phone handsets were recovered from them, the Imphal East SP statement added.
