Non-bailable warrant issued against agents

Imphal, August 17 2013 :
For the first time in the state, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal on 16th August passed an order for issuance of non-bailable warrant against Fair Price Shop Agent and SK Oil Sub-Dealer of polling station number 17/11 of Lamsang Assembly Constituency for failure to distribute items under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) to certain BPL ration card holders of Mayanglangjing Taning.
The non-bailable warrant of arrest was issued following a criminal complaint by three villagers of Mayanglangjing Taning namely Yumnam Ibochou Singh, Takhellambam Ongbi Sanatombi Devi and Sagolsem Ongbi Leiren Devi against Wahengbam Mangibabu Singh, the agent of Fair Price Shop and Takhellambam Bhubon Singh, the SK Oil Sub-Dealer, according to a statement issued by Human Rights Law Network.
In the complaint, the petitioners claimed that even though the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West district has issued BPL Ration Cards to their families, the FPS agent refused to distribute BPL rice to them since September 2008 without assigning any valid reason.
