Imphal, February 15 2009:
To press the government to implement the Jeevan Reddy Commission recommendation in Manipur, and to facilitate dialogue with the militant groups, are some of the resolutions adopted today by the Communist Party of India (CPI), Singjamei Local Council during its 42nd Conference held at Chingamathak Chongtham Leikai.
The other resolutions, to cite a few, include pressure to entrust Manipur government in Loktak Hydro Electric Project, to formulate the Agriculture and Land Use policy, to complete the construction of irrigation system before the onset of monsoon, to ensure the regular supply of power, water and PDS items.
Presidium members of the conference included secretary of CPI Singjamei local council, Khumbongmayum Ibotomba, and CPI Singjamei local council member S Nilamani.
Reports of the activities of the Local Council were heard from the secretary and then he moved the agendas.
