Imphal, February 15 2009:
Concern over the threat by teachers of higher secondary schools of the state that they may stay away from the Class X and Class XII examinations, the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has today demanded the government to take a "noble decision" to solve the impasse before the examinations begin.
In a statement, the MSF information and publicity secretary, L Umakanta Meetei said that the education system of the state may be a rotten one if the teachers of the higher secondary schools boycott the coming examinations of class X and class XII.
It said that not only the teachers will stay away from examination duty, but they may also refuse to evaluate the answer scripts of the students, which can be a curse for the system.
The teachers' body has been demanding revocation of the principals and teachers who have been placed under suspension on charge of preventing their students to participate in the Republic Day celebration on January 26 last.
The teachers have also warned that they may stay away from the coming examinations to be conducted by the BSEM and the COHSEM if their demand is not fulfilled.
Citing that the education system of the state may not be in the desirable shape if the teachers refuse to take part in the examinations, the MSF has demanded the government to take a 'noble decision' and revoke the suspended principals and teachers before the start of the two examinations.
