Imphal, November 29 2014 :
With a view to avoid any security lapses, two ponds located in front of the Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) were drained out today to ensure that no explosives were planted underneath the water.
The two ponds were drained out at the instruction of SPG but no explosives were found.
After all the water was drained out, bomb experts searched for explosives using metal detectors inside the ponds but nothing suspicious was found, informed a source.
Notably, unprecedented security measures have put in place all across Imphal city in view of Prime Minister Nar-endra Modi's visit to the State tomorrow.
Further, electric cables put up around BOAT which are visible to the naked were re-arranged and concealed at the instruction of SPG .
Incidentally, one hand grenade having no detonator was found at Hapta Kangjebung on November 25 where Narendra Modi would grace the closing function of the Manipur Sangai Festival.
