Pregnant deer rescued

Imphal, April 22 2016 :
A part of Heingang Reserve Forest near the
abode of Lord 'Ibudhou Marjing' was set on fire by unidentified
villagers on April 20.However, timely intervention by the mem-
bers of Safe Environment Campaign Committee (SECC),
Heingang controlled the fire saving the area from further damage.
Shockingly, a pregnant deer believed to have fled from the
area due to the forest fire was found stranded at Khundrakpam
village yesterday morning.
The villagers rescued the deer and
later handed over to a team of Central Forest Division,
Mantripukhri after the matter was informed by the chairman
of SECC.
SECC in a statement has requested all the villagers
living in and around Reserve Forest Area not to burn forest .
