Imphal, April 22 2016 :
The Zillai (Vaiphei Students' Association)
General Headquarters has condemned in the strongest term the
heartless and inhuman killing of Lalchuailo Neihsial s/o Nawna
Neihsial, chief of Lenglong village under Nungba subdivision of
Tamenglong district.
In a statement, Khailiansang Vaiphei, general secretary of
Zillai Ghqs said that on April 11, armed cadres of ZUF
numbering about six entered Lenglong village before dusk and
forcibly took along with them Lalchuailo and Soithangzo
Gangte s/o Kaikholien Gangte as guides across Tuilang (Irang)
river.
As the group of two innocent villagers and armed ZUF
cadres wove their way through the thick jungle, they were
waylaid by another armed group, which later turned out to be
personnel of 21 Para Regiment (Rashtriya Rifles), it said.
As the gunfight ensued, Soithangzo managed to dodge the
flying bullets and made good his escape, reaching the safety
of his village.
After hearing the news from him and when the
gunfight had ended, the villagers tried to send a party to the
area to search for Lalchuailo.
But they were stopped by the
security personnel from venturing near the spot stating that a
combing operation was on in full swing.
The fate of Lalchuailo
couldn't be ascertained from then on, it added.
On receiving news of the incident on April 13, the Zillai
Ghqs appealed through the media for his safe release from the
armed groups involved in the gunfight.
Unfortunately, his
mortal remains were recovered from the spot by the villagers
around noon today, it said.
Lalchuailo lived his life in the true spirit of altruism, and
on most occasions went out of his way to help others.
The
manner of his death, and the treatment that was meted out to
him before his life ended was in sharp contrast to the kind of
person that he was.
He didn't deserve any of it, Zillai said.
The Zillai GHQs is deeply pained by the barbaric and
cruel nature of the security forces, torturing the innocent youth,
which is a gross violation of human rights, it said and strongly
condemned it.
The organization is also extremely aggrieved by
the action of the ZUF which had forcibly taken the two youths
and used them as human shields.
ZUF deserves no lesser
condemnation.
Both parties involved in the death of Lalchuailo must make
amends for their cowardly acts, it added.
