BJP Councillors to continue bandh

Romibala Devi said that the 12-hour bandh in
Moirang which ended today at 6 pm has been
extended till tomorrow to condemn the attitude
of MLA M Prithviraj and Moirang SDO Md S
Daulad Khan.
A sit-in protest was staged by BJP Coun-
cillors condemning the lathi charge during
the distribution of ration card of National
Food Security Act yesterday.
In the meantime, Congress Councillors
has condemned the bandh called by BJP
Councillors and said that people who are
earning their livelihood on daily basis have
been severely affected by the "unreasonable"
bandh.
MMC Ward No 11 Councillor M
Memthoi Devi said that ration cards were
distributed under the Moirang SDO in three
Wards.
Prior information has been given to the
Councillors to distribute the ration cards to
the beneficiaries of the remaining Wards on
April 21 at Moirang Purit Mandop.
There-
fore, the Congress Councillors also arrived
at the venue.
However, the BJP Councillors took hold
of all the ration cards at SDO office with an
intention to distribute the cards by them-
selves.
Congress Councillors tried to get
hold of the cards.
Subsequently, BJP Coun-
cillors clashed with police personnel.
She said that imposing bandh and utilis-
ing office vehicle for their personal interest
are absurd.
