Alzheimer's Month observed

As done across the globe, the Alzheimer's Month was also observed in the State under the joint aegis of Jawaharlal Nehru Nurses' Association, National Alliance for Elders' People Livelihood, Research Advocacy & Chronic Diseases of India & Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India, Manipur Chapter at Lecture Hall of JNIMS here today.
The observance which was sponsored by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur was attended by MLA Md Amin Shah, who is the Parliamentary Secretary in-charge of MOBC and Science and Technology as Chief Guest and former Chairman of Social Welfare Department RK Nayansana as President.
Prof Y Ibopishak of JNIMS; Dr K Shantibala, Vice Chairperson, NAEPLRA Chronic Diseases of India ARDSI Manipur Chapter; Dr H Hemanta, Super Specialist in Neurology and P Landhoni, Nursing Superintendent, JNIMS were also present on the occasion as Guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion MLA Md Amin Shah stated that Alzheimer's disease is mostly common among people above the age group of 60 years.
The elderly people should be treated with love and care.
Lack of love and care to the elderly people could also be one of the reasons leading to Alzheimer's disease.
