Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR South in close coordination with the civil administration of Moreh and Tamu organized a joint cleanliness drive at the Indo-Myanmar town, Moreh today.
The event witnessed a huge participation including locals, civil administration, security forces and sanitation squads from both the countries.
The cleanliness drive was conducted on a stretch of approximately 5 km between Indo Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2 and Haolenphai village along IB, said PRO, IGAR.
Huge amount of garbage collected on the border affecting hygiene and sanitation in the town was removed by joint effort using heavy machineries.
The aim of this event was to bring the people and authorities of both sides together and to spread the message of peace and tranquillity as also the importance of hygiene and sanitation.
The enthusiastic participants and civil administration of both Moreh and Tamu expressed their gratitude towards Assam Rifles for this noble initiative, it said.
