The children home was set up by the village chief, Ngamkhohao Haokip and currently has about 50 orphans.
Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen extended the help after she was apprised of the plight of the children at the home and village by The Sangai Express.
A team from the newspaper had visited the village earlier and came across the children home and heard their grievances.
During the visit, the village chief had asked the journalists of possible assistance to elevate the condition of the home and children.
Upholding its civic duty of helping the children at the home, The Sangai Express had consulted the Social Welfare Minister for assistance.
Interacting with the team today, Ningthiching village chief Ngamkhohao Haokip said that the home was established with the help of his friends to provide care and education to the poor and orphans in the district.
Children at the home are enrolled at Ningthiching Government High School. The children are housed at the school's rooms, he said adding that 'it would be helpful if the Government constructs a hostel for the children to stay' .
The school currently has 7 teachers, he said urging authority concerned to send more teachers.
He had requested the ZEO concerned for adequate teachers but has not received any positive news, he added.
He thanked The Sangai Express and lauded Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen for her help.
