Scholarship for Sorinchon

Imphal, August 19 2011:
Becoming the first among the tribal artistes in Manipur, 21-year old Sorinchon Zimik, d/o Wungnaoyo Zimik and Thanmila Zimik of Tungou (Ringui) village has been awarded the 'Young Artiste Scholarship' by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for her excellence in the field of theatre.
The honour would entitle Sorinchon Zimik to a monthly scholarship of Rs 5000 for a period of 2 years.
Sorinchon received the award under the tutorship of Dr S Thaninleima, the director of Khenjonglang, a centre for theatre research and production based at Irilbung.

Sorinchon Zimik started her career in 2006 as an artiste of Zingko Art & Film Centre, Tungou village and she is presently working as an artiste in Khenjonglang.
