Witnesses depose in different murder case : Ratanmala case

In the RK Ratanmala rape and murder case, the Court today examined victim's elder brother RK Sanjoy Sana's statement.
He gave his statement before the District and Sessions Court, Manipur East as prosecution witness number one.
In his statement, Sanjoy Sana said that he filed a complaint at the police station con- cerned on January 29, 2010 that his sister failed to return home after she went out as she received a phone call.
The next day, her sister's lifeless body, suspected to be raped and murdered, was found at Langthabal Phura-makhong Poila Loukol at around 4.30 pm, he said.
The same day, he went to the house of the accused, Soibam Dhanabir s/o S Tom-ba of Ningombam Mayai Lei- kai as his family was suspicious that he might commit the crime, Sanjoy Sana said and added that the accused however surrendered before the police at 7.30 pm.
The trial of the case began on February 24, 2014 under FIR No 29 (1) 2010 of Singjamei Police Station under Section 376/302/201C IPC.
Police had recently framed charge sheet against the accused under section 302 and 102 IPC four and a half year after the incident happened.
The accused, who is currently on bail, was also present at the hearing.
It may be mentioned that RK Ratanmala d/o RK Ruhini of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai was found dead at Langthabal Phuramakhong Poila Loukol on January 30, 2010 with her phanek lifted up to her waist and her jersey and her inner wear were found removed.
Apart from strangulation marks, bruises, suspected to be created by some hard objects, were also found on her head.
Straws were also found scattered in and around the area.
