Third joint consultative meeting over Ringsanbou assault incident held

The Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) and Maram Union organised its third Joint Consultative meeting on August 6 at ZU Office, Kakhulong, Paona Bazar, Imphal.
According to ZU press release, the joint meeting minutely discussed the unfortunate incident meted on Ringsanbou Newmai on July 28 last at Maram Centre by three persons.
Solomon Newmai, f/o Ringsanbou Newmai, in this regard, submitted an application to the President ZU(AMN) on July 30 urging the union to take up necessary legal action against the culprits involved in the incident.
The President ZU(AMN) also received a memorandum from the convenor and co-convenor of Zeliangrong Joint Action Committee (JAC) on August 2 requesting the Union to take appropriate actions, it said.
In the meantime, Solomon Newmai submitted a withdrawal letter to the President ZU(AMN) on August 2.The ZU (AMN) and Maram Union, however, rejected his appeal since steps had already been taken up, a press release stated.
Right from the beginning of the incident till date, ZU(AMN) and Maram Union leaders have been trying to solve Ringsanbou's matter making use of all possible ways, the press release added.
The third joint consultative meeting, therefore, decided on punishing the culprits as per customary law of Maram tribe and Zeliangrong tribe, the culprits are also to bear medical expenditures of Ringsanbou till he recovers.
It further concluded that the matters decided by ZU(AMN) and Maram Union shall be final and binding to every party related with the incident, it further conveyed.
