Imphal, December 20 2011:
AMUCO and UCM have demanded that the Centre should bring out an official document declaring that there was no proposal for Supra State body in consideration of the Government of India.
A joint statement issued by AMUCO and UCM also asked the Government of Manipur to reaffirm its decision to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur and take a firm resolution not to allow any Supra State body to function on the soil of Manipur during the ongoing Assembly session.
The same resolution should be sent to the Central Government and to bring out a white paper as an official document.
Even though Home Minister P Chidambaram clarified that there was no proposal for any Supra State body, the Seven Sisters Post stood by their report and boldly stated that it was the Home Minister who was not speaking the truth.
Again, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, while addressing a meeting at Kangla recently, talked about Supra National Authority when the people of Manipur were seeking a clarification on the Supra State body, they pointed out.
Reminding the Government of India that Manipuri people can sacrifice their own lives to protect the territorial integrity of the land, they alleged that the Government of India by its double-standard nature has been perpetually inciting rift and communal war in Manipur.
The Government of India should immediately stop its ambiguous practice of speaking one thing at Senapati and another at Imphal allegedly driven by a sinister design to ignite a civil war amongst the people of Manipur.
It also appealed to all the people not to commit the blunder of standing on the side of Delhi by forgetting the long history of peaceful coexistence and collective struggle shared by different communities of Manipur.
AMUCO and UCM have no ill-feeling against any community.
What the AMUCO and UCM have been deploring are the sectarian and discriminatory policies of the Government of India, alleged the statement.
A few revolutionary groups who were earlier fighting for sovereignty but have fallen into India's trap and are currently holding peace talks with the Government of India have been acting as agents of the sinister project to disintegrate Manipur.
The Government of India has tutored these agents constantly spew venoms of communalism and undertake criminal activities with the agenda of straining the age-old fraternal bond shared by the people of Manipur.
Unable to rule the country by any political ideology, the Government of India has been governing its territory by using
its military force.
On the other hand, armed rebellions have been waging in different parts of India.
Under such circumstances, holding dialogue with the Government of India to resolve conflicts is tantamount to selling themselves as agents of India.
Underscoring the paramount importance of unity, AMUCO and UCM advised politicians to understand the wishes and aspirations of the mass.
