Imphal, December 20 2011:
The JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO which has been spear-heading a cease work strike against the Government's failure to implement recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission in toto has decided to carry on the strike.
The State Government and the JAC signed an MoU on May 19, 2010 declaring that the 6th Pay would be implemented in the State but the same MoU has not been put into action till date.
Taking strong exception against the Government's failure to translate the MoU into action, Government employees launched an indefinite cease work strike from October 24 last under the stewardship of the JAC.
Speaking to media persons today, JAC secretary general Chingtham Chandramani claimed that the 6th Pay has been implemented in all the States of India except Manipur.
The 6th Pay has also been implemented for Central Government employees, active service employees and pensioners.
Accusing the SPF Government of subjugating its employees, pensioners and family pensioners, Chandramani alleged that the Government has been forfeiting the rights of its citizens.
According to the MoU signed on May 19 last year, it was agreed that the employees would sacrifice their arrears for 51 months and take only six months' arrear in exchange for implementation of the 6th Pay in toto.
Blaming the Government for violating the MoU, Chandramani said that the employees would not sacrifice their arrears.
"We would demand arrears for all the 51 months", he said.
For every two children of each employee, children education allowance of Rs 8000 should be given every month but this amount has been reflected in the employees' salaries till date.
Moreover, the employees have been denied leave travel allowance and festival bonuses even as financial health of the State has improved significantly, he decried.
