Senapati, October 18 2009:
While reminding its proposed chakka bandh to be imposed in Manipur on Monday, the Indigenous Democratic Front (IDF) has threatened to take up various democratic forms of agitation from 6 am of October 20 demanding the announcement of the dates to hold Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls, reports NNN.
IDF leaders while talking to the media in Senapati on Sunday said that Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii had stated in the floor of the House in the last session that the ADC polls will be held by 2009."We hope that the present Secular Progressive Front (SPF) Government, unlike the past Governments, will keep its words by conducting the ADC polls," stated the IDF leaders.
The IDF leaders then claimed that the Central Government has now shown any sympathy to them as they got some feedbacks from New Delhi in their quest to bring grass-root democracy in the hill districts of Manipur.
Meanwhile, the IDF leaders have appealed to the general public not to misunderstand them as their agitations will create inconveniences.
The Front said that due to the compelling situation they have taken the step to carry out the agitation.
