Senapati, October 18 2009:
While reminding its proposed chakka bandh to be imposed in Manipur on Monday, the Indigenous Democratic Front (IDF) has threatened to take up various democratic forms of agitation from 6 am of October 20 demanding the announcing of dates to hold Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls.
IDF leaders while talking to the media in Senapati on Sunday said that Tribal Development minister DD Thaisii had stated in the floor of the house in the last state legislative assembly sitting to hold the ADC polls by 2009 .
"We hope that the present Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government, unlike the past governments, will keep its words by conducting the ADC polls," stated the
IDF leaders.
The IDF leade got some feedbacks from New Delhi in their quest to bring the grass-root level democracy in the hill districts of Manipur.
Meanwhile, the IDF leaders appeal the general public not to misunderstand them as their agitations will create inconveniences.
The Front said that due to the compelling situation they have taken the step to carry out the agitation.
