Imphal, October 15 2014:
Owing to breakage of two/three BSNL broadband line wires which resulted from the ongoing construction work for expansion along Tiddim Road, flight services in Imphal Tulihal Airport have been severely affected.
Notably, BSNL is the lone broadband internet service provider for airline flights including Air India, Jet Airways and Indigo in the airport.
However, services of all the airline flights have been hit for the last four days due to the breakage of the broadband line wires from the ongoing construction work mainly digging out earth along Tiddim Road.
As stated by employees of the flight services, timely communication with other airports, VIP passengers including passengers who need emergency services have been badly affected ever since the breakage of BSNL broadband line wires.
All the airline services have been relying on dongle internet connection for ensuring uninterrupted communication.
However, slow speed of dongle internet connection is not serving needs of the airline services which need fast internet connection.
Communication regarding information on arrival and departure of flights has been also affected, the employees lamented.
Saying that the airline services operating in the airport have already encountered such problem in the past, they urged the concerned department entrusted with the expansion of Tiddim Road to intervene into the matter and ensure that communication service in the airport is not affected at any cost.
