Imphal, October 15 2014:
With the election campaign for Hiyanglam by-election scheduled to be held on October 17 comes to an end today evening, Manipur People's Party (MPP) has made a fervent appeal to the electorates of the constituency to cast their valuable votes to the regional party's candidate M Amutombi.
Addressing a press meet at its office in connection with the ensuing election, N Sovakiran, president of MPP lambasted the Congress party for playing divide and rule policy, saying it was during the regime of the party that Kabow Valley was annexed to Myanmar and Aksaizin in Jammu & Kashmir was given away to China.
He contended that imposition of the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 and the rampant influx of outsiders into the State have paralyzed the State which major political parties have apparently failed to rectify it.

Pointing out that names of around 450 national welfare schemes are named after Gandhi's families which is clear sign of gaining political mileage by the Congress, the president of MPP said that only dreams of Gandhi's families were incorporated in the national policy programmes.
The Congress party has not dreamt about bringing growth and development in the State that is why their descendents are not showing keen interest in addressing issues pertaining to the State.
Even the party has utterly failed to restore National Highways which are in deplorable condition for the last many years, he maintained.
Saying that federal structure of government will be attained only when power is shouldered to regional party, he appealed to the electorates of Hiyanglam to give votes to MPP's candidate Amutombi who is competent enough to develop the constituency which other political parties have failed to do it so far.
