Imphal, October 15 2014:
Coming down heavily on the Congress party in connection with the ensuing Hiyanglam by-election slated to be held on October 17, president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Chaoba has said that setting up of three police stations in Hiyanglam is the only achievement of Congress in constituency during its 13-year rule in the State.
Addressing a press meet at its office located at Nityapat Chuthek here today, Chaoba stated that Hiyanglam is one of the most backward constituencies of the State with deplorable road and bridges apart from poor supply of potable water, which the Congress has failed to address during its 13-year rule.
Mocking at Congress party, Chaoba said, 'Perhaps Hiyanglam Constituency is the only place in the State where there are three police stations, which is the only achievement of the party as far as its activities in the constituency is concerned' .
Stating that the Congress party does not respect even film artistes is clearly evident from the remark of Deputy Chief Minister, wherein he insulted several film artistes who were attending a campaign for BJP yesterday, Chaoba asserted that BJP have immense respect for film artistes that is why the party had already urged the Central Government to set up a film institute in the State at the earliest possible.
Even Chief Minister of Meghalaya had urged the Central Government to set up a film institute in his State but here the government has not shown keen interest in setting up a film institute which is much necessary to facilitate talented film striates of the State, he pointed out.
Exuding confidence that if the candidate of BJP wins in the ensuing Hiyanglam by-election then he would become an influential MLA of the State, Chaoba asserted that Ministers of the State would want to work in cahoots with BJP MLAs at the time of seeking projects and funds from the BJP led NDA Government at the centre.
Slew of developmental packages will be awarded by the Central Government to the constituency if the candidate of the party wins in the by-election.
The party is of the confident that its candidate M Dhanabir will come out with a thumping victory in the election as the Congress government has failed to develop the constituency in all aspects, he maintained.
Saying that BJP will look into the heavy fuel project worth crores of rupee taken up by the Congress party which has failed to light up even a bulb, Chaoba contended that the government only know how to felicitate sports players of the State who won medals but it does not show interest to facilitate sports players from grass root level.
He went on to exude confidence that BJP would win the Hiyanglam by-election by a margin of 2000 votes from nearest party.
Asni, general secretary of BJP Manipur Pradesh was also present during the meet.
