Under the Manipur Public Servants Personal Liabilities Act, a final hearing for Government officials of nine Departments accused for making appointments without consent, doing supplies and allotting contract works in contravention of rules and regulations will be held on July 18 with the Chief Secretary in the chair.
A reliable source informed The Sangai Express that the concerned officials have been intimated of the final hearing by a committee with the Chief Secretary as chairman in accordance to an order issued by the Finance Department which is the enforcement nodal Department of the Act.
The committee headed by the Chief Secretary will decide on the actions that may be initiated after hearing statements of the concerned officials.
In case Ministers are found involved in the fraudulent practices, the matter will be discussed with the Chief Minister.
Some of the officials for whom hearing will be held on July 18 belong to District Council (TD), Power, Sports, IFCD, MTDC, Health, Education (BSEM) etc.
Some of the fraudulent practices indulged by these officers included appointment of some teachers in Government schools under a District Council without approval from the Government, supply of goods in Power Department in contravention of rules and regulations, abuse of physical education teachers in Sports Department etc.
Other cases include flouting established rules while allotting contract works for Khuga Dam under IFCD, payment of bills in advance by the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation etc.
