In connection with the agreement on Suspension of Operation signed between the Kuki underground outfits and Assam Rifles and Army, it is very likely that talks between the leaders of the Kuki outfits and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would start soon.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a reliable source informed that the talks at the Chief Minister's level has been mooted to facilitate peace dialogue between the Kuki outfits and the State Government.
The peace dialogue would be held within the framework of the Indian Constitution and the venue of the talks would also be within India only.
However, the exact date for commencing of the dialogue has not yet been finalised, the source said.
It may be noted here that the State Cabinet has already discussed the grounds of the Suspension of Operation.
One clubbed to death: A rickshaw puller was clubbed to death by some unidentified persons at KR Lane along Imphal river bank under Porompat police station last night.
The deceased is identified as Thangboi Khongsai (27) s/o Ngamlun Khongsai of Old Boljang under Saikul PS, currently staying at Laipham Khunou.
He went out from his room together with another rickshaw puller at about 4 pm yesterday.
Thangboi got married just six months back and was staying together with his wife in the rented room.
Thangboi's hands as well as legs were found tied together when the corpse was discovered today morning.
Fatal wounds of assault by heavy blunt objects on different parts of the body including head were observed.
Some pieces of wooden planks fixed with long iron nails were also found in the spot.
The corpse has been deposited at RIMS mortuary.
Driver dies in mishap: A driver of a jeep (MNS-6666) was killed in the spot when the vehicle met with an accident at Leingangching under Litan Police Station at about 2.40 pm today.
However three other passengers escaped unscathed.
The deceased jeep driver is identified as Moirangthem Ingocha (20) s/o Ibopishak of Iroishenba Mamang Leikai.
The corpse has been brought to RIMS mortuary.
