Imphal, July 14:
Voices of resentment have been raised from among the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) members over the alleged failure of the Ibobi Singh-led SPF Government to come up with any significant achievements even after completion of 100 days as the coalition Government has not been able to maintain its own structure inspite of a full-fledged Council of Ministers.
Talking to The Sangai Express, some of the CLP members who prefer to maintain anonymity said the Government can be considered as a failure on various fronts as it has not been able to achieve anything significant inspite of having the required full strength of the Council of Ministers.
Apart from running the Government like a dictator, indulgences in family politics along with a handful of people has reduced the Government to a slumber.
So it is high time to wake it up, the disgruntled CLP members said.
Unlike in the 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Government has not been able to show its achievement even after completion of 100 days in power.
This only goes to show the failure of the Government and its governance, they contended.
Owing to the inability of appointing a secretary of CLP, there is no transparency among the members, they charged.
As necessary discussion on the developmental works to be taken up has not been facilitated, misunderstanding has been created among the Ministers and the MLAs leading to tension, they said.
Moreover, the chief whips of the Government and the CLP have not been appointed so far and the post of the Deputy Speaker filled up although the matter had been discussed in the meeting of the CLP.
All these have its direct bearings on the functioning or rather the non-functioning of the Government, they pointed out.
Despite the violation of the norms in allowing PWD Minister K Ranjit to continue holding the post of the chairman of PDA, IFC Minister N Biren to retain the post of chairman of Pollution Control Board and the post of the chairman of Khadi and Village Board by one ex-MLA, the Chief Minister pretended to know nothing, they further charged.
