District Institute of Education and Training, Imphal organised a one day State level advocacy workshop on Adolescent education programme at the conference hall of SCERT located inside DM College complex today.
SCERT Commissioner Mrs C Kipgen and SCERT Director N Debala Devi inaugurated the workshop as chief guest and president respectively.
DIET Imphal Centre principal Th Geeta and Project Director of Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) Dr Kh Pramodkumar were also present at the occasion as guests of honour.
In her address, Mrs C Kipgen said the vaccine of education is more important then the medicine vaccine among the students to save the future generation from falling prey to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
In this regard the teachers have a great role to play in imparting knowledge of HIV/AIDS to the students.
In his presidential address, N Debala pointed out that the workshop was being organised to provide necessary feedbacks to the teachers who would be impart knowledge of HIV/AIDS among the students as part of the School AIDS Programme.
After the training of the teachers of Imphal East district, similar workshop and training programme would also be organised in other districts of the State one by one for successful implementation of the School AIDS programme.
In all 50 teachers from various schools of Imphal West District participated in the workshop.
Education training: A 15-day induction training programme for Education volunteers of Alternative Innovative Education (AIE) under the Sub-Project of Women and Child Welfare Association, Kangpokpi has been commenced at Kangpokpi High School since October 9 with SDC Kangpokpi DN Lhangum, DI (Admn) Kangpokpi Sothang Lunkim and Headmaster of the school Thongam Doungel as chief guest, guest of honour and president of the inaugural function.
The training programme was also attended by Lecturer of DIET, Senapati Shashi Rajan who was also the resource person of the day's class, Editor of Jing Valpa Robert Hekai Kipgen, BRPs and CRPs of SSA Kangpokpi Block.
Altogether 30 education volunteers are taking part in the training prog which would continue till Oct 23.
